The Zac Brown Band’s latest album, Jekyll & Hyde was full of many songs that didn’t seem to fit into the band’s wheelhouse. There were songs that ranged from Pop to Hard Rock to Country and even Jazz. Today I sit down to talk about the third single from the project titled “Loving You Easy”.
The song shuffles along with a Motown-esque feel to it. In the song, Brown talks about how his woman is right for him and how she makes “loving her easy” with all of her qualities. The theme itself has been played out to death and the lyrics really do nothing to add any type of unique feel to the song. It is also incredibly short, barely playing over 2 minutes and 30 seconds. Granted, these type of short songs are quickly becoming the new trend at Country radio. However, when the main focus of a song such as this is to be a catchy sing-along, the length barely gives listeners enough time to remember the song.
Now, when i said that there were songs from Jekyll & Hyde that didn’t quite fit into the band’s wheelhouse, this is one of the songs I was talking about. The song itself isn’t terrible, and is somewhat catchy. That being said however, the Zac Brown Band has proved that they can do better than this. A couple of flaws make this song go from “good” to simply “ok”.
