That said, her debut effort was definitely leaning more towards pop than "country", which is understandable since she was the lead vocalist of a pop-rock group pre-The Voice win. Her latest single, "I Wish I Could Break Your Heart", is a fairly accurate representation of her discography to date.
The verses are actually very good. Pope sounds great, and the melody drives a cohesive lyric, but when the chorus comes around, it hits you right over the head with loudness, to the point where she has to scream to be heard. It's the exact same issue I had with her debut top 10 hit "Wasting All These Tears". A cluttered chorus.
It's still a decent effort, and should bring her back to the top 10. She has potential to do great things. Let's just make sure we can hear that potential next time.
